TUDOR
2008 - ongoing
Tudor (2008) is an immersive wall-based installation made entirely from black gaffer tape, inspired by a black-and-white image of Little Moreton Hall in Cheshire. Created instinctively in my studio, the piece recreates the bold aesthetic of a Tudor façade using everyday material. The tape's clean graphic lines give way to blistered, peeling textures that animate the walls—breathing life into the architecture. Tudor responds to the space it inhabits, adapting its form to each new room like a conversation between material and environment. Initially shaped by my return from India—where the sun-bleached surfaces of Goa left me longing for bold contrast—the work channels memory, atmosphere, and a desire to reclaim a lost sense of visual clarity. It’s a site-responsive work that reflects on memory, space, and material constraint—using everyday materials to explore how environments shape perception and experience.

School Workshop: Tudor at Stanley Road Primary, Worcestershire UK 2019
In the summer of 2019, I was selected by Stanley Road Primary School as the contemporary artist for their Summer Art Festival. The students chose my work Tudor as the inspiration for their project. I had such a joyful time sharing stories about how the installation was created and talking with them about the creative process. Thank you to all the amazing children (and staff!) for making me feel so welcome.
